Ingredients
For the meatballs:
250g lamb mince
1 clove garlic, crushed
3 spring onions, finely chopped
1 tsp. ground coriander
1/2 tsp. ground cumin
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
pinch of chilli flakes
1 tbsp. parsley, chopped
Salt & pepper
1 egg, beaten
For the sauce:
Light olive oil/vegetable oil
400g chopped tomatoes
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
Pinch sugar
Rice or bread, to serve
Method
Combine the minced lamb, garlic, spring onions, ground coriander, ground cumin, ground cinnamon, chilli flakes, parsley and salt and mix thoroughly. Add a little less than half of the egg to bind the mixture. You may need even less.
With wet hands, shape the mixture into 8 meatballs.
Heat a drizzle of oil in a frying pan over a medium-high heat and add the meatballs. Fry, turning occasionally, until brown all over.
Pour off all but 1 tbsp. of the fat and add the chopped tomatoes, ground cinnamon and sugar. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce is nice and thick.
