Notes

Ingredients

  • 1/2 eating apple, peeled, cored & grated

  • 1 carrot, grated

  • 250g beef mince

  • 1 tsp. balsamic vinegar

  • salt & pepper

  • 1 tsp. dried oregano

  • 2 tsp. tomato puree

  • 1/2 tsp. chilli flakes

  • 20g breadcrumbs

  • Brioche buns, cheese, ketchup, mayonnaise, lettuce & sweet potato wedges to serve

Method

  1. Using your hands, squeeze out any excess juice from the grated carrot and apple and place in a large bowl. Add all the remaining ingredients and thoroughly combine with your hands,

  2. Divide the mixture in two and shape into patties. Pop onto a plate, cover with cling film and chill for at least 30 minutes - this will help the burgers to firm up and retain their shape.

  3. To cook, place a frying pan over a medium-high heat, add the burgers and cook for 10-15 minutes, depending on how well done you like your burgers. Flip every few minutes.

  4. To serve, pop in a bun with your favourite accompaniments and condiments, and enjoy some sweet potato wedges on the side.
